Tax Analyst

Position Details

Location: Calgary, Alberta

The Tax Analyst will support Canadian Natural’s tax compliance, research and advisory work.  The primary role is to assist in the completion of corporate and partnership tax returns, tax research, assisting in tax audits, special tax projects and various other roles as assigned.


The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare corporate income tax returns and other tax filings, including compilation of supporting working papers
• Assist with income tax provisions and other tax reporting related requirements, including working papers and supporting analysis of the Income Tax Act and/or IFRS
• Perform tax research and prepare analysis of income and commodity tax matters
• Assist with Federal and Provincial tax audits
• Respond to tax queries from the business and
• Assist on various other tax projects, as required

• 5+ years of experience, including corporate income tax compliance, preferably with a large Oil & Gas company or a Public Accounting Firm 
• Accounting Designation (CA, CMA or CGA)

The ideal candidate will also possess the following competencies:

• Strong team player capable of supporting cross functional teams
• Strong technical experience and ability to conduct tax research
• Excellent communicator comfortable in dealing with various levels both inside and external to the organization
• Demonstrated judgement, influence and strategic thinking
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing timelines
• High level of competence with computer systems; and
• Detail oriented and resourceful
