Associate/ Full Professor of Physiology

Job Purpose:

  1. Conduct academic functions within the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBR-UMHS) to achieve the educational, clinical service, community service, scholarship and research functions of MBR-UMHS in order to graduate professionals in Medicine
  2. Carry out other assignments as may be necessary for the MBR-UMHS to achieve its functions

Principal Accountabilities/Key Results Area:


  1. Develop and prepare training Courses, - Goals, Objectives, Content and Assessment that aligns with the Educational Goals of MBR-UMHS
  2. Conduct pedagogical and training sessions as assigned by leadership
  3. Participate in the assessment of students to ensure that academic goals have been achieved
  4. Provide educational support to students to facilitate their achievement of educational goals.
  5. Guide and supervise students in the acquisition of skills and conduct of scholarly activities


  1. Engage in research activities on themes that align with the research goals of MBR-UMHS and of relevance to the country
  2. Attract research grants to MBR-UMHS to facilitate the achievement of excellence in scholarship
  3. Publish quality research outcomes in high impact journals to enhance the international standing of MBR-UMHS
  4. Participate in international conferences to disseminate results of research activities

Professional Service

  1. Engage in exemplary professional service that provides a frame of reference as standard of acre to trainees
  2. Provide high quality service and contribute to the advancement of the health status of the community and raises the profile of the MBR-UMHS

Community Service

  1. Seek and develop relationship with suitable external partners in order to raise the profile of MBR-UMHS and the University
  2. Provide opportunities for assisting professional colleagues to maintain and enhance their skills by offering Continuing Professional development in his/her specialty
  3. Carry out other College or Community related services assigned by leadership

Qualifications & Experience:

Preferred candidates will possess a Ph.D., be medically qualified, possess skills in modern methods of teaching, and a research track record, as well as experience in working with a diverse student population. Candidates will have at least five (Associate) and 10 (Full Professor) years’ academic experience in a recognised University. Evidence of experience of academic leadership will be an advantage.

Clinical applicants with qualifications and skills in teaching medical science will be at an advantage, but must satisfy requirements for appointment as a Consultant at the Dubai Healthcare City.
