Reporting to the Director, Logistics  this role provides support to the logistical team for managing product movements of NGL, propane, butane and condensate.  This person will require strong analytical, management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Scheduling – Overall responsibility for day to day scheduling of NGL products (propane, butane and condensate) via rail and truck between origin and destination

  • Rates – Negotiate day to day freight rates with the Class 1 railroads to minimize total shipping costs and maximize product margins

  • Service – Oversight and management of service levels with Class 1 rail roads and trucking (as needed) to prevent service failures. Ability to assess routing and cycle times

  • Commercial – work closely with Accounts Payable and Class 1 railroads to ensure accurate invoicing and payment

  • Communicates regularly with operations to ensure NGL transportation needs are aligned with operational activities

  • Fleet – working closely with internal stakeholders (terminal operations and marketing) to manage the rail fleet and inventories in order to maximize margins

  • KPIs – proven track record for developing and maintaining KPIs relating to NGL movements (i.e. fleet utilization, cycle times, dwell times, etc)

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting rail industry and NGLs

  • Experience in rail car maintenance an asset

  • Experience in forecast and budgeting an asset


  • Relevant university Bachelor’s degree (Business or Engineering)

  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a related role with focus on rail movements in North America

  • Previous experience leasing pressurized rail cars is an asset

  • Superior oral, written an interpersonal communication skills

  • Bulk Marine scheduling is an asset

  • Previous experience working with Class 1 railroads

  • Proven interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of midstream business processes

  • Analytical ability to determine optimal business solution to opportunities and challenging
