Reporting to the Vice President, Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Sustainability; this position is responsible for bringing innovative process safety solutions for a wide range of oil and gas processing projects and leading the integration of Process Safety Concepts into the EHS systems within AltaGas.

As a member of the EHS team, this position is responsible for the cost effective Process Safety and EHS support for the entire AltaGas business portfolio, including proposals, projects, drafting, quality control, and manufacturing groups.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work closely with the AltaGas Operating Units to assist in meeting business objectives

  • Provide technical support in Environmental and Safety Engineering in support of the business units

  • Stay apprised of the regulatory changes within the EHS portfolio and assist operations with meeting changing needs

  • Provide technical support for Business Development, Stakeholder Engagement, and Communications in pursuit of new projects

  • Development and improvement of in-house process safety and EHS Management Systems

  • Compliance with applicable codes, standards, Business Units specifications and industry best practices

  • Strict adherence to AltaGas Safety Policy and Code of Business Conduct

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant Engineering discipline

  • Minimum 10 years of direct professional experience in a process environment

  • Strong chemical and mechanical aptitude along with operations and design process engineering experience

  • Experience working with P&IDs, PFDs, LOPA, HAZOP, and Risk Management tools

  • Solid technical knowledge of process safety tools and methods

  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards and industry best practices

  • Ability to cost effectively combine process innovation with regulatory demand

  • Ability to organize and support multiple projects in a highly time sensitive environment.
