The Project Engineer (PE) is accountable to the Project Manager and is responsible for planning, developing, and supervising many aspects of the project.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work from active project location including AltaGas head office, engineering company location, fabrication shop location and construction site
  • Coordinate project scope design and development
  • Managing the project design within budget and schedule constraints
  • Interface with internal and external engineering resources to develop engineering deliverables
  • Review and approve engineering schedules and costs
  • Review and approve engineering designs, plans, and specifications
  • Complete technical evaluation for equipment and material bid packages
  • Act as single point technical contact with fabrication vendor including the following:
    • Ensure fabrication meets design and engineering specifications
    • Review and approve cost and schedule updates
    • Lead shop fabrication inspection for quality and completion
    • Perform equipment load out inspection
  • Ensure relevant construction work packages are developed
  • Provide on-site construction support including the following:
    • Respond to request for information
    • Ensure construction meets design and engineering specifications
    • Support Operations during commissioning activities


  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical)
  • Registered P.Eng. in Alberta or B.C.
  • 7+ years of experience working as a project engineer relating to oil, gas or power projects
  • Experience in managing internal and external vendors and resources
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
  • Good communication skills
