The Construction Manager is accountable to the Project Manager and coordinates construction activities.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

During construction:

  • Monitoring and reporting on safety and environmental programs and procedures
  • Providing project coordination and management of subcontractors to manage the overall work plan to ensure work is assigned and completed on time and within budget
  • Managing scope to ensure that all required work is completed, and that any additional work is controlled through scope management (i.e., change orders)
  • Identifying, tracking, managing, and resolving daily construction issues
  • Defining and collecting metrics to measure progress, cost, and quality
  • Providing daily progress and cost reports to the project management team
  • Overseeing contractor QA/QC programs to ensure that work is performed in accordance with contractual and quality standards
  • Managing manpower, equipment, and material on site
  • Attend daily safety and production meetings and discuss/convey issues and concerns to crews and management
  • Liaise between on-site construction team and AltaGas Management.
  • Assist with the checkout of equipment, and create punch lists with the commissioning team
  • Complete all punch list items, transition site to Operations
  • Inventory management and turnover

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience managing construction sites relating to oil, gas or power projects
  • 5+ years as lead construction manager on projects with scope over $200 million
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to work in remote B.C. locations
