Reporting to the Director, Planning this position is responsible for in-depth analysis of enterprise wide business units and corporate segments to facilitate detailed outlooks and business plans

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Gather and validate financial and non-financial information for the consolidation of the enterprise annual budget, long term outlook, and monthly business plan dashboards

  • Partner with the operational accountants, financial analysist and business leaders to gather and validate assumptions underlying the financial and non-financial KPIs to enhance the quality of the planning and budgeting deliverables

  • Prepare analysis and reports to enhance the presentation of budgets, outlooks, and business plans with a focus on performance measures, capital spending, and G&A.

  • Prepare detailed analysis of the business segments to validate and present the expected operational, commercial, and financial results

  • Create and maintain complex financial models for all business segments including Corporate

  • Transform data into information to facilitate informed decision making by Senior Leaders in the organization

  • Deliver concise and informative information that clearly explains the business drivers and the impact of these on the financial results of the organization

  • Leading the investigation of critical business issues by coordinating the analysis with multi-disciplinary teams and through the effective utilization of complex financial models

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, or a related field

  • Professional accountant relevant accreditation (i.e. CPA, CFA) will be considered a significant asset

  • Very strong analytical abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an intrinsic curiosity regarding underlying business drivers

  • Ability to understand complex business issues and present issues in a logical and concise manner

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral

  • Very proficient in MS Office, especially Excel

  • 4 to 10 years of experience in:

    • financial modelling and consolidated reporting

    • working with a public energy company, including in-depth knowledge and understanding of tax, treasury and accounting functions

    • forecasting and budgeting of a large scale organization

    • creating Board of Director or Executive level presentation material

    • working with JDE and Hyperion will be considered an asset
