Reporting to the Manager, NGL Commercial, this position is responsible for providing analytical support to the commercial operations of the NGL Commercial group. This support includes the research and analysis of business opportunities as well as optimization of existing contracts and business practices.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform market research, financial modelling, and economic analysis to support Commercial business objectives;

  • Assist Commercial Representative’s in negotiation of contracts, evaluation of business opportunities, and management of customer relationships;

  • Analyze and integrate detailed research and financial analysis into concise presentations for management;

  • Complete daily/monthly price forecasts and reporting for the Commercial group;

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and strategic plans for the Commercial group;

  • Validate monthly invoicing to ensure accuracy with commercial contracts, forecasts, and budgets;

  • Liaise with Finance, Legal, Operations, Major Projects, Commodity Risk, and Business Development groups to ensure Commercial objectives are achieved;

  • Coordinate and complete both internal and external information requests from various stakeholders; and

  • Maintain a strong understanding of current news and events that affect natural gas, natural gas liquids, and crude oil markets and their potential impacts on AltaGas’ businesses.


  •  Relevant university degree in either Commerce, Economics, Finance or Engineering;

  • 3+ years relevant experience in the energy industry with knowledge of Midstream business strongly preferred;

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and VBA;

  • Strong attention to detail, proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet critical deadlines;

  • Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; and

  • Motivated individual able to work independently and as a team player.
