AltaGas requires an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated individual to join our team at the Harmattan Gas Processing Plant in Central Alberta, reporting to the Maintenance Foreman - Harmattan. Harmattan maintenance personnel work a 9 hour day shift with every second Friday off.  AltaGas Ltd. offers a competitive salary, coupled with a comprehensive medical and dental program, savings plan and pension plan.  

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Configuration, programming and maintenance of gas plant DCS/PLC systems.

  • Coordination and scheduling of work activities/tasks of contract support personnel for maintenance and project activity.

  • Responsible for budget planning for control systems expenses.

  • Responsible for controlling costs and monitoring expenditures.

  • Field visits to verify equipment and installations.

  • Field work as required to install and maintain control equipment.

  • On-call responsibilities in a rotating schedule.


  • Technical College Diploma (i.e. NAIT or SAIT) or equivalent education.

  • An Instrument or Electrical Journeyman is preferred; however, consideration will be given to applicants who are certified in Control system applications.

  • A strong working knowledge of instrumentation is a must.

  • 10 or more years in process control environment with increasing supervisory experience.

  • Experience in installation and maintenance of the following systems would be a definite asset:

    • ABB Harmony Distributed Control Systems with System 800xA HMI.

    • Rockwell (Allen Bradley) Programmable Logic Control systems.

    • Liquid and gas flow measurement systems.

    • Liquid and gas chromatograph systems including Siemens, Galvanic and Ametek

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Solid work ethic and a motivation to produce superior results in workmanship and effort
