How do you fit in?

 

We’re currently seeking a highly talented Operator to join our Townsend Operations Team. The Townsend facilities are shallow cut gas trains designed to process 297 mmcfd of raw sweet gas. 

 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Lead the daily outside operation of the Townsend facilities, working the 12-hour day/night shift schedule
  • Operate the control room Delta V & Rockwell control systems during absences of the Senior Operator.These absences include vacation, training & illness
  • Lead outside in the safe and efficient operation of all scheduled and unscheduled work including: operations, repairs and maintenance
  • Assist in turnaround planning, commissioning and start-ups
  • Adhere to all AltaGas policies, standards, procedures and practices
  • Ensure plant production and reliability
  • Mentor and train junior employees to promote a safe operating environment
  • Recognize and avoid inappropriate risks, consider the consequences and impact and consult with senior personnel before taking action
  • Report and investigate facilities’ safety incidents
  • Update and develop operating procedures
  • Good trouble shooting ability

 

What you must have:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • 4th Class Power Engineering certificate is required.Preference will be given to a 3rd class power engineering certificate
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in facility/pipeline operations
  • Gas plant and power generation experience would be considered an asset
  • The ability to work under limited supervision, drawing on previous experience, good judgement and standard procedures

 

Where you’ll be working:

  • The Townsend facilities are located approximately 125 km northwest of Fort St. John.This position will be a camp based position.  Shift schedule is a week on week off.  Preference will be given to candidates who currently live in the Fort St. John area or who are willing to relocate to the Fort St. John area.  Consideration will also be given to remotely located employees.
