How do you fit in?

Reporting to the Superintendent, this position will have a full working knowledge of equipment, gas operations, maintenance and monitoring facilities under their control. The incumbent is fully familiar with all aspects of gas plant operations, procedures for safety, troubleshooting, production logging, start-up, shut-down and equipment maintenance.


What you’ll be doing: 

  • Fully competent in operating and / or repairing of equipment and systems

  • Participates and / or occasionally leads in construction projects, turnaround planning, commissioning and start-ups

  • Demonstrates enhanced communication, business (economics) skills and teamwork qualities.

  • Demonstrates leadership and troubleshooting qualities. Provides coaching and training to junior employees

  • Recognizes and avoids inappropriate risk – considers the consequences and impact before taking action

  • Supports, practices and assists in the development of AltaGas operational policies, standards, procedures, and practices

  • Provides back up and/or relief for more senior positions when personnel are on vacation, special projects etc. May coordinate Emergency Response Plan (ERP) situations

  • Leads in coaching, mentoring and training of junior employees. Maintains an open attitude toward change and participates when change is appropriate

  • Works well with a wide variety of people – works toward a win/win outcome in relationships with others


What you must have:

  •  Grade 12 education or equivalent

  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.Preference will be given to a person that holds a 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience working in facility/pipeline operations

  • Gas plant and power generation experience would be considered an asset


Where you’ll be working:

The Gordondale Gas Plant is the only facility in the area to offer high efficiency recovery of natural gas liquids (NGLs), also known as deep cut capability. The Plant also has peaking power plant generators which serve as emergency back-up generation for the plant as well as generate electricity and supply power to the grid when demand is high or supply is low. It is located in the Gordondale area of the Montney reserve area approximately 100 kilometers northwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta. To learn more visit the Gordondale Gas Plant.
