How do you fit in?

AltaGas is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated engineering student for an 8-month co-op term starting in January 2020. As a Student Engineer, you can expect a variety of assignments and projects, continuous learning, training and mentoring. The position is located at the Edmonton Ethane Extraction Plant (EEEP), located in the city of Edmonton, AB. The position reports to the Operations Engineer EEEP & JEEP. The standard workday starts with the plant morning meeting at 6:30 am.

 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Provide quick identification and response to emergency situations. Understand, abide by, and follow Emergency Response Procedures
  • Review all P&IDs and redlining – there are many adjustments that need to be made to EEEP P&IDs including drawing title numbers and reference names.
  • Digitize line lists
  • Develop specifications, targets, and safe operating limits
  • Participate in small MOC projects
  • Provide technical support and assist with projects and assignments provided
  • Interface with internal resources to develop engineering deliverables

 

What you must have:

  • 3rd year Bachelor of Engineering or Science - Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum discciplines
  • Available for an 8 month term beginning January 2020
  • Demonstrated team player with strong organization, analytical, time management and customer service skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • A positive attitude with a desire to learn and embrace change
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach
  • Familiarity with oil and gas terminology will be considered an asset

 

Where you’ll be working:

The Edmonton Ethane Extraction Plant (EEEP) is located within the city limits in south Edmonton, Alberta. EEEP is a gas-extraction straddle plant with a gross production capacity of 23,000 Bbls/d of specification ethane and 7,500 Bbls/d of natural gas liquids (NGLs). It is connected to several pipeline systems, which provides the opportunity for valuable liquids such as ethane, propane, and butane to be processed for commercial and industrial use. The Joffre Ethane Extraction Plant (JEEP) is 100 percent owned and operated by AltaGas. Located in Joffre, Alberta, JEEP has the processing capacity of 250 Mmcf/d of natural gas and is capable of producing up to 10,400 Bbls/d of ethane and natural gas liquids. The JEEP facility’s strategic location provides the opportunity for valuable liquids to be processed for commercial and industrial users as well as to end-use markets in the city of Edmonton.
