How do you fit in?

Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), AltaGas Ltd. requires a creative team player whose attributes include strong analytical, financial modelling, planning, reporting and effective communication skills.  As a key member of the Finance team you will be accountable for providing leadership in the execution of effective and efficient planning activities, delivery of enterprise-wide financial modelling, continuous improvement of FP&A activities through leveraging technology, and the communication of business performance analysis to senior management. Your input will be required for the AltaGas’ external reporting documents and communications to the investor community such as the MD&A and AIF.

 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Coordinating the delivery of AltaGas’ enterprise-wide annual operational budgets and monthly outlooks in close partnership with the Business segments including management of consolidated enterprise-wide financial models
  • Develop and maintain processes to measure, report and explain Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to support effective business decision making
  • Delivery of timely, accurate and meaningful interpretation and analysis of the enterprise-wide business performance and planning results to the senior management.
  • Delivery of key presentational material for senior management and Board of Directors
  • Development and implementation of ongoing efficiencies through process improvements and leveraging available technology to present effective and impactful reporting and data visualization
  • Maintain, design and implement standard FP&A processes for the company’s Business segments
  • Partner with Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Business segments and Corporate Development, to improve planning and reporting activities as well as to provide critical business analysis to support decision making
  • Build and mentor a high performing, motivated, strategic thinking FP&A team responsible for developing, communicating and monitoring the company’s business performance and plans

 

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a professional accounting designation or MBA with minimum five years of progressively senior level experience in Financial Accounting and/or FP&A, preferably in a large-scale organization with exposure to senior level management
  • Experience in the development of annual budgets, forecast and new processes
  • Demonstration of interest in leveraging new technology to optimize processes and access to data in areas such as accounting, finance and FP&A
  • Knowledge and experience in working with planning software platforms
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities and ability to manage and oversee complex financial models
  • Proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance and meet tight deadlines.
  • Energetic self-starter with excellent communication, presentation, influence and writing skills with solid organizational skills
  • Experience in developing and leading effective teams
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically while working with inter-departmental teams at all levels of management
