Reporting to the Manager, Civic Building Projects the Senior Project Manager is responsible for major civic initiatives ranging from construction to major renovations throughout the City. Key responsibilities include guiding the development and implementation of major civic projects while working closely with key stakeholders. This role requires thorough knowledge of architectural design and construction principles and practices and engineering practices and procedures; building costs, materials, methods and practices; B.C. Building Code, zoning and related municipal legislation. The Project Manager oversees schedules and directs the work of technical staff, architectural and engineering consultants, and contractors therefore strong interpersonal skills, time management and organizational skills are a must.
Requirements include a degree in Architecture or Engineering (P.Eng) supplemented by courses in management and leadership plus considerable experience relating to the construction industry with developed skills in design, construction, supervision and inspection. A valid driver’s licence is also required as this position will conduct site visits. The ability to work collaboratively while still meeting deadlines is critical.
Hours of work: 70 hours bi-weekly; 8:00am to 4:45pm with a nine-day fortnight schedule.
