Our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is looking for auxiliary Recreation Leader 1's to work in Community Services. The Recreation Leader 1 is the front line supervisor for after-school programs and services in the Community, and is involved in preparing detailed program plans, purchasing supplies, scheduling and supervision of program staff, using CLASS registration software, assisting with payroll, and other administrative duties. In Community Services we excel in consistent, high quality and professional customer service. As a part of the staff group you will provide courteous, customer-oriented help and support to customers and staff and colleagues. Working with a Community Coordinator and Recreation Leader team, you will act in consultation with them to manage issues and emergencies related to all aspects of the delivery of program services. In the absence of a supervisor you will take action and make decisions to manage issues and emergencies as they arise, guided by established policies and procedures and your own good judgment. The work will also include projects and other related duties as assigned.
Successful applicants will have completed at least Grade 12, supplemented by courses in recreation with sound related community recreation experience, strong customer service skills, proven public relations and effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will also possess strong interpersonal and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently. First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certification and a Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia are required. Experience supervising staff in a recreation setting and BCRPA High Five® certification are assets.

Hourly Wage: $25.31 plus 12% in lieu of benefits (Pay Grade 15)
