Civil 3D Designer/Drafter

Location: Canada - Vancouver   Job Code: 1475-P19



Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB) Power and Transportation Group has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic and experienced Civil 3D Designer/Drafter to develop 3D models of existing hydroelectrical facilities and to produce civil drawings for various projects. You will be exposed to multi-faceted aspects of interdisciplinary drafting in the 2D and 3D environment. You will work with a team of motivated and hardworking professionals committed to technical excellence and project delivery. The position is based in KCB’s Vancouver office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D models, surfaces and solids, using Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD 3D referenced from historical drawings and reports
  • Develop and draft both sketches and formal engineering design drawings from preliminary concepts in civil/structural and geotechnical disciplines
  • Develop layouts and detailing designs related to earthworks, excavations and roads
  • Proficient with the use of external reference files and able to use layer naming conventions as per client drafting standards
  • Review and check colleagues work as required
  • Able to understand and work with geomatics data

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years related experience
  • A certificate or diploma in Civil/Structural drafting from a Canadian accredited program
  • Proficient using Civil3D and 3D modelling
  • Proficient in civil drafting
  • An enthusiastic attitude and strong work ethic
  • Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong spatial perception, logical reasoning and numerical ability
  • Detail oriented and accurate
  • Ability to read and interpret historical drawings
  • Proficient creating drawings using imperial and metric units of measurement
  • Collaborates and works well with others
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Motivated to assist the development of junior staff skills as required
  • Dedication to meet project deadlines in a timely manner
  • Displays an interest in all aspects of engineering disciplines civil/structural, mechanical and geotechnical
  • An appreciation of GIS an asset
  • Proficient in AutoCAD C3D 2016 or newer
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
