We are seeking an energizing individual to join the External Relations team as Communications/Media Advisor.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications/Media Advisor assists in the development of both long and short-term strategies to raise the profile of Niagara College. The primary responsibility of the position is to implement communication plans to support projects, events, publications and media relations. This position is responsible for executing tactics for the promotion of college initiatives through a variety of communication channels including print, digital, media relations and social networks. The incumbent will strategically leverage social media channels for college stories, earned media, and stakeholder engagement.
The incumbent, working with the Manager, Communications, will create, write and edit external communication pieces (including gathering facts, planning and research). This includes submission to various sector publications as well as proactively pitching stories to the media. The position represents the college to the media, frequently acting as a first point of contact and spokesperson. The incumbent liaises with external partners and is responsible for coordinating the production of all media materials.
The incumbent must be an experienced and creative writer with an ability to work independently and exercise good judgement while adhering to deadlines and managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities.
