Ocean Capital has a new and unique opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist, who will support specific HR initiatives across the group of Companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of HR activities with businesses, as well as be assigned to support special projects and tasks as required. He / She will provide valued direction, service, support and advice to managers and employees, liaise with company leaders to determine their needs, support HR systems, as well as be proactive in promoting human resources best practices, policies and procedures. The individual will be part of a team of HR experts within Ocean Capital, however this role will also work closely with key businesses specific to their HR operational needs. Other responsibilities will include:
Strategic Initiatives: Be part of the HR team who will be key in preparing the organization for the future – including succession planning, talent management and leadership development.
Research: Assist and support on special research initiatives on best practices pertaining to succession planning, talent management, performance management, workplace conduct and the changing environment.
Policy and Administration: Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of human resource plans, policies, and procedures.
Preparation of Business Analytics: Specific to HR performance including employee head count, absenteeism, demographics, long term disability, employee turnover. Work with companies to help them understand implications of findings.
Reports and Measures: Assist with the preparation of quarterly reports, annual HR work plan, and KPI’s.
Recruitment: Manage the search process for select positions and build a pipeline for talent. From time to time work with Executive Search firms.
Onboarding: Coordinate with the businesses in advance of a new employee’s arrival to create an exceptional orientation experience.
Employee Relations: Work with managers and employees (contract and non-contract) on day to day circumstances that require HR participation.
Learning Management System: Work with businesses to establish training plans and complete required annual documentation for compliance.
Annual Calendar of Commitments: Including employee surveys, development planners, performance reviews, benefit renewals, service awards, compensation reviews, and quarterly employee meetings.
Benefits Administration: Assist Companies with benefit administration during the year and at renewal time, as well as work with providers for disability management.
Employment Equity: With federally regulated businesses, be a champion for the organization’s responsibilities under Employment Equity.
Interface with Payroll: Be a contact for Payroll related inquiries from employees and managers.
Skills and Attributes:
The successful candidate will have the right blend of education and experience, which may include an undergraduate degree, 7+ years’ experience in a Human Resources, and an CPHR designation.
