Accounting Associate

Petro Service Limited is a full line petroleum equipment distributor, specializing in sales, service, construction and installation. Our customers include owners and operators in the retail petroleum and commercial/industrial markets. The facilities involved include retail gas stations, bulk plants, fleet sites, commercial and industrial sites and car washes throughout Canada.

If you are looking for a dynamic organization this is the opportunity for you. We are currently recruiting for an Accounting Associate to join our team in Saint John, NB.

As the Accounting Associate, you will be expected to perform a diversified range of tasks and follow standardized, multifaceted procedures including:

  • Accounts Payable
    • Management of AP invoice processing
    • Monitor status of invoices in approval process
    • Cheque and EFT preparation
    • Supplier statement reconciliations and vendor follow up
    • Open Purchase Order Report and follow-up
  • Filing
  • Payroll time sheet functions
  • GL reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Credit Card reconciliations
  • Ad-hoc financial documentation & reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

Suitable candidates will meet the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or College diploma in Business Administration
  • 1 to 3 years or relevant experience
  • Able to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations
  • Experience gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in processing files and records with accuracy
  • Exceptional level of discretion, confidentiality, and judgement with proven problem-solving skills with the fortitude to take initiative where appropriate
  • Able to work independently, and take full ownership of activities
  • Computer literate, and proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with Great Plains software will be an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Initiative, ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions
  • High energy, self-motivated and must have a positive attitude
  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task, collaborates with others to promote understanding and provide necessary support
