CMLS Financial, one of Canada’s largest Commercial lenders is looking to grow an award-winning Operations team.  The Credit and Reporting Analyst is responsible for performing ongoing analysis and reporting to support the CMBS program and other Capital Market initiated programs.  The incumbent will oversee the collection of financial statements for the existing commercial portfolio, perform annual financial statement reviews and financial covenant tests for various internal programs, and update internal management reports as required.  The Credit and Reporting Analyst is also responsible for portfolio surveillance management and is involved in monitoring construction projects during the income stabilization stage.  The incumbent will generate, maintain, and manage the portfolio surveillance report, develop and monitor warning flags, and support default management.   • Manage and maintain CMBS and other securitization transactions and reports.
  • Manage analyzing detailed loan and property level financial reporting and follow up with borrowers as requested.
  • Manage and maintain loan and property level data in CMLS’ proprietary loan origination and management software.
  • Monitor portfolio of loans for compliance with loan requirements and servicing agreement.
  • Respond to inquiries from third party service providers including rating agencies.
  • Coordinate post funding financial information collection and property inspections for CMBS and non-CMBS servicing portfolio.
  • Prepare reports and assist with compliance-related tasks.
  • Prepare credit analysis/memos including modelling of portfolio performance as well as financial modelling across a variety of asset classes.
  • Monitor inspection reports and key transaction performance metrics on an on-going basis for the existing portfolio, alerts the related stakeholders and parties when any issues arise with respect to non-compliance of a client within deal parameters.
  • Develop and maintain Portfolio Surveillance framework, uses predictive analytics to forecast delinquency before it occurs and to detect distressed accounts early, identifies highest credit risk segments across the portfolio to best approach pre-delinquency, and conducts high-level reporting to monitor account delinquency and pre-watch list stage.
  • Make recommendations on best practices and opportunities to improve internal processes and procedures related to portfolio and surveillance administration.
  • Assist CMLS stakeholders with issues related to portfolio and surveillance administration.
  • Document Management including creating, organizing, reviewing, developing, and maintaining files physically and electronically related to maintenance of client review files and associated databases.
  • Data Collection & Analysis by conducting research using primary data sources and selects relevant information to enable analysis of key themes and trends.
  • Assists the Servicing Management team with the scope and coordination of responsibilities in department and corporate projects/mandates, including the allocation of project work ensuring timelines, objectives, and inter-dependencies are being met and gaps or issues are escalated as required. Supports corporate business and programs by learning department functions, helping to develop new procedures, and covering the processes. 

This role is for you if you:

  • Have a University degree in Business/Finance/ Real Estate and/or a professional designation (such as CFA, CA, CPA) preferred.
  • Have experience in financial analysis and/ or underwriting. Experience within the financial services industry/ institution and commercial real estate knowledge are considered assets.
  • Have intermediate to advanced experience using Microsoft Applications including Office, Excel and SharePoint.
  • Have a high level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Have proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Have demonstrated interpersonal skills that promote mutually beneficial, respectful and professional relationships.
  • Have excellent communication, presentation, problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
  • Can work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Have strong attention to detail in all areas of work.
