A self-motivated Technologist is required to work with a multi-discipline team of technologists and engineers providing a variety of process piping, mechanical and civil design engineering services. The employee will carry out a limited range of clearly defined assignments under minimal supervision.
Prepare 3D models from drawings or sketches provided.
Prepare drawings for process piping, mechanical, structural and/or architectural designs.
Prepare “As-Built” drawings to reflect actual field conditions.
Participate in facility walk downs to collect field information, measurements and photographs either independently or accompanied by a senior engineer.
Prepare hand drawn sketches and perform simple design calculations.
Graduation from a college as a Process Piping or Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering Technologist or equivalent. Secondary school graduation diploma or equivalent and normally has more than 3 years pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
Operating knowledge of 3D and 2D CAD software is required, with preference for Autodesk software’s: Inventor, Revit and Autocad.
Must possess fundamental knowledge of design practices, mechanical and civil drawing conventions, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and conventional tolerances.
Must possess a fundamental knowledge of mathematics, such as mensuration, geometry and trigonometry.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and machine shop practises is an asset.
Must be capable of producing neat, legible and accurate drawings in a reasonable amount of time.
Must be able to effectively work and communicate with others.
Must possess a mechanical/structural aptitude and have a good understanding of engineering fundamentals.
General computer literacy and moderate to high level knowledge working with Microsoft Office software.
The ability to manage time and materials within allocated budgets and schedules is required.
