Morneau Shepell's Traumatic Event Support Services are available to our organizational clients of any size and industry. We successfully support hundreds of organizations each and every month with traumatic event management, by providing on-site meetings for those impacted designed to normalize reactions and minimize post-traumatic stress (PTS). 



Reporting to the Regional Manager of the Traumatic Event Support Services, you will be answering calls from clients in need of support following a traumatic event, organizing traumatic event support services, overseeing daily administrative processes and travelling on-site to deliver defusing, debriefing or on-site support for terminations/downsizings when needed.



  • Work on rotating shifts to provide preliminary assessment of presenting workplace situation, and provision of coaching and support to managers;
  • Organize traumatic event support services by interacting with internal clients, external clients and affiliate providers;
  • Provide supervision and case consultation to trauma counsellors when requested;
  • Manage the administrative requirements as dictated by the Traumatic Event Support department;
  • Conduct Management Consultations with Managers and HR Representatives of external organisations.
  • Occasionally travel on-site to deliver defusing, debriefing or on-site support for terminations/downsizings.
  • Participation in Senior On-Call Clinician rota out of hours.

We require candidates to be available to work on rotating 8-hour shifts (8am to 4pm, 10 to 6pm, 12pm to 8pm), weekdays.

Succeeding as a Trauma Specialist will require the following core qualifications and skills:

  • Registration with a professional counselling body (e.g. BACP);
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience;
  • CISM, CISD training or EMDR certification is an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge and practice with groups;
  • Solid oral communication skills;
  • Sound knowledge of different workplace and organizational settings;
  • Good understanding of management/HR structure
  • Demonstrated crisis management skills and ability to provide crisis solutions to customers;
  • Superior ability to convey sensitivity, professional manner and effective approach when facilitating interventions within the corporate environment;
  • Ability to view timely and effective customer response as a key priority;
  • Ability to respond to unexpected, unusual situations with creativity and flexibility;
  • Familiarity with cultural diversity an asset;
  • Ability to work within a computerized environment.
