Substance  Abuse Program (SAP):

Part or the Workplace Support Programs, the Morneau Shepell Substance Abuse Program (SAP) provides professional assessment and treatment recommendations for employees experiencing performance issues at work that may be related to drug and alcohol abuse. This program does not focus on intervention or counselling, but rather on the assessment, treatment recommendation and confirmation of treatment completion.

Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of the Workplace Support Programs, you will be providing professional services to Morneau Shepell's Substabce Abuse Program clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide services to clients that are eligible to Morneau Shepell’s Substance Abuse Program;
  • Manage the administrative requirements as dictated by Morneau Shepell’s clinical models.

       Succeeding as a Substance Abuse Program counsellor you will be required to have the following core qualifications and skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work;
  • Registration with a College or Professional Association Membership and valid professional liability insurance;
  • Alcohol and/or substance abuse training or experience working in a substance abuse facility;
  • Minimum five (5) years post-graduate counselling experience with multiple populations;
  • Experience providing assessments and/or using assessment tools as part of a substance abuse treatment plan;
  • Ability to write report in a clear and concise manner and to submit them in a strict timeline;
  • Experience with mandated clients is an asset;
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills;
  • Professional office space suitable for private counselling in the city listed in the posting.
