Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the Senior Human Resource Manager will be a key member of the HR Leadership Team. Leading the HR Advisory Team, and working collaboratively with other Human Resources Functional Leaders the successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of the business needs and take a consultative approach to build strong relationships with senior leaders across the organization.
This position is based in the NW Edmonton, AB office and is a 12-14 maternity leave contract.

HR Advisory and Client Interaction
Lead, guide and be accountable for the performance of the HR Advisory Team to ensure that the challenges of their assigned client groups are proactively diagnosed and addressed.
Develop deep knowledge of and strong relationships within the client groups served.
Engage in face to face contact with senior business leaders on a regular (e.g. monthly / quarterly) basis and virtually through video conference as required (site visits may be required).
Liaise with the Human Resources Leadership Team to ensure strategic alignment across all areas within the human resources function.
Provide support to the senior operational leadership teams to ensure they have the tools necessary to make informed decisions.
Develop a rapport with employees to promote trust and open communication; providing ongoing coaching to leaders in support of human resources processes and programs.
Maintain current knowledge of federal, provincial laws and regulations to ensure the company remains committed to fair employment practice, in addition to determining how pending legislation can impact the human resources field and the employment landscape.
Participate in resolving issues related to employee relations.
HR Program & Policy
Analyze, investigate and support the resolution of business / people issues.
Provide guidance and support on employee matters including, but not limited to, policy interpretation, harassment complaints, drug and alcohol testing.
Serve as escalation point for policy and program inquiries from HR Business Partners.
Review existing and forthcoming legislation to determine HR impact on the organization; make recommendations regarding legislation.
Work with our internal legal counsel when needed, to support the resolution of challenging complaints.
Understand the site level environment and ensure alignment with the business needs.

Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or related degree.
7+years working in a business partner capacity
5 years in a leadership role within human resources and within the construction or related industry
Experience serving multiple, and broad employee groups
Experience dealing with sensitive and complex employee situations (e.g. harassment, performance management, drug and alcohol policies, etc.)
Experience working directly with field staff and field management
Fluent knowledge of Federal and Provincial laws and legislation as it applies to employee related situations
Ability to successfully navigate a fast-paced, complex and changing work environment, while managing multiple and shifting priorities, with an approach that encompasses both collaborative and integrity
Strong leadership capability as evidenced by demonstrable success in team / collaborative work environments
Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service philosophy
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Highly developed critical thinking, logical analysis and problem-solving skills with the highest standard of professional ethics, confidentiality and integrity
