Reporting to the Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition, the Lead, Talent Acquisition will be responsible to oversee the hourly hiring team and their activities, develop partnerships and add strategic value to the business and support the development and execution of Talent Acquisition projects with the client groups.

 

This position is based in the NW Edmonton, AB office with some travel required to regional offices and project sites within Canada.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Leadership

  • Demonstrate the Stuart Olson Promise and contribute to it becoming embedded across the organization.

  • Promote the best interest of the Company.

  • Conduct performance plans and assessments with direct reports.

  • Maintain high level of morale among direct reports.

  • Act as a coach and mentor to direct reports.

 

Talent Acquisition

  • Oversee the Talent Acquisition team conducting hourly hiring; manage team workload; primary contact for all hourly requests; conduct hourly hiring as required.

  • Project manage large scale hourly hiring requests, i.e. turnarounds, shutdowns etc.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business, client needs and specific talent pools.

  • Conduct full cycle recruiting for all salaried and indirect openings for the Industrial Group.

  • Lead reporting metrics for Talent Acquisition.

  • Establish strong internal relationships with the business.

  • Execute various Talent Acquisition projects to completion as communicated by the Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition.

  • Support the objectives and strategy of the hourly hiring activities as communicated by the Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition.

  • Support the execution of the national employment brand for Stuart Olson as an employer of choice.

  • Support and participate in corporate initiatives as requested.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or Business

  • RPR designation an asset

  • 5+ years’ internal full cycle talent acquisition experience in hourly and salaried recruitment within the construction or related industry

  • 1-2+ years’ leadership experience

  • Taleo experience an asset

  • Familiarity with the dynamics, operations, processes and organizational interdependencies of construction/industrial services preferred

  • Experience with and talent acquisition strategies, programs, vendors and tools

  • Experience with direct sourcing an asset

  • Solid understanding of workforce-related federal and provincial employment laws and regulations as it relates to talent acquisition practices

  • Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently

  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a focused team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly

  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them

  • Strong organization, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated, action oriented and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a positive attitude

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, strong customer service and problem solving orientation

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment
